Circus in Chile has been included into the National Inventory of Intangible Cultural Heritage of UNESCO
2022 started in a fabulous way for the Chilean and also for the international circus community by receiving the news that the National Council of Culture, Arts and Heritage of Chile unanimously voted for the inclusion of the Chilean Circus into the National Inventory of ICH of UNESCO during its first ordinary session in January in Pereira Palace.
“It is a well-deserved and relevant recognition of the impact of the circus and its centuries-old tradition, which held together and contributed to the wellbeing of the communities through generations”- said Mrs Consuelo Valdés, Minister of Culture of Chile.
“Circus is in the heart of all Chileans independently of ages, it is for the children, youngsters and the whole family”- said the Chilean State Secretary when congratulated the representatives of the circus community.
Congratulations and thanks to the group of Chilean circus professionals who worked for years to achieve this recognition, and they finally completed their mission with great success.
